Game Schedule

WEEK #1

The Fusion, the U12 Traveling Team played its first and second games of the season on Saturday April 2nd in Fort Collins.  In the first game of the double-header, the Fusion tied 4-4.  Weather conditions were perfect for soccer and the scoring was back-and-forth despite the Fusion possessing the ball for long periods of time.  The goals were scored by Michael Mendoza - 2, Logan Kiefer -1 and Jaycie Dillenburg -1.

The second game of the double-header was won by the Fusion, 3-2.  The conditions during this game were drastically different from the conditions during the first game.  The wind made the game difficult on both teams, but the Fusion prevailed scoring the winning goal in last minute of the game.  Much like the first game, the Fusion possessed the ball for long periods of time.  Goals were score by Michael Mendoza - 1, Logan Kiefer -1 and Jaycie Dillenburg - 1.

The Fusion's third and fourth games are next Saturday (April 9th) in Fort Collins.  Check this portion of the website again for a write-up after next weekend's games.

Week #2

The Fusion enjoyed another successful Saturday of soccer.  After their second weekend in Fort Collins, the Fusion came home still undefeated.  In the first game of the double-header, the Fusion faced Windsor (the only team that defeated it last season).  The game started quickly for Windsor, as they took the first three shots of the game, hitting the post once.  The Fusion settled in after the rocky first ten minutes and began to put its mark on the game.  The Fusion wanted to even the score with Windsor after last season, and did it by winning the game 7 - 2.  Goals were scored by Carlos Cordero - 2, Peyton Schuppe, Abbey Brower, Michael Medoza - 2 and Jacob Griebel.  Conor Alsup played another strong game as Goalkeeper.

In the second game of the double-header, the Fusion played the Fort Collins Storm.  Looking to go undefeated for the day, the Fusion did it winning the game 6 - 2.  This game started much quicker than the Windsor game with Carlos Cordero scoring a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes.  Logan Kiefer and Brandon Martinez scored on each side of the Storm's two goals, and the first half ended 5 - 2.  Conor Alsup played Goalkeeper in the first half and was instrumental in defending an ill-given penalty kick to the Storm.  With the team comfortably ahead, players were switched positions in the second half.  Jaycie Dillenburg rounded out the scoring in the second half and the game ended 6 - 2.  Peyton Schuppe played Goalkeeper in the second half and shut-out the Storm, even stopping the second penalty kick of the game.

The Fusion have the next two weekends off, and will resume play April 30th in Fort Collins with another double-header.  The Fusion's record stands at 3-0-1.

WEEK #3

On April 30th, the Fusion again traveled to Fort Collins for its third weekend of games.  The Fusion entered the weekend with an undefeated record and game home with the same.  The weather was miserable and all teams battled the wind, cold and rain/snow.  In the first game of the double-header, the Fusion played the Loveland U12 Team and won the game easily 3-1.  Loveland only had 3 shots the entire game with their lone goal coming via penalty kick.  Peyton Schuppe played an outstanding game in goal and saw very little action because of outstanding defense.  The Fusion's goals were scored by Abbey Brower (unassisted), Carlos Cordero (assist by Michael Mendoza) and Logan Kiefer (unassisted).

In the second game of the day, the Fusion played the Fort Collins Eagles and won the game in even easier fashion 3-0.  It was the Fusion's first shut-out of the season and Goalkeeper Peyton Schuppe did not have to make a single save.  Defense was the hallmark of the day and the Eagles saw very little of the ball in the Fusion's defensive third.  The Fusion's goals were scored by Michael Mendoza (assist by Mason Dallegge), Brooke Polenz and Carlos Cordero.  The Fusion created wonderful scoring opportunities despite the wind and several chances missed the goal by inches.  The Fusion is ready for its last weekend of league play before playing in the Rock Cup in Centennial on May 21st and 22nd.

WEEK #4

The Fusion played its last league games on Saturday, May 21st.  After two wins the Fusion ended the season 7-0-1, and outscored their opponents in league play 32 to 13.

In the first game of the double-header the Fusion played the Fort Collins Blizzard.  The Fusion won the game 4-2, and the game was considerably one-sided with the Blizzard's two goals coming from break-away opportunities.  The Fusion defense was rarely challenged and Goalkeeper Peyton Schuppe had little do to aside from the two break-aways.  The Fusion's first goal was scored by Carlos Cordero (unassisted), the second goal was also scored by Carlos Cordero (assisted by Michael Mendoza), Michael Mendoza scored the third goal (unassisted) and Carlos completed the hat-trick scoring the fourth goal (assisted by Jaycie Dillenburg).

In the second game of the double-header/last game of league play the Fusion played the Fort Collins Ice.  This game was decidedly different from the first game with the Ice giving the Fusion their toughest game of the season.  The Fusion started the game surprising slow and the Ice had several quality scoring opportunities which it failed to convert.  As the game progressed the Fusion slowly found traction, and the first-half ended 0-0.  The Fusion scored the only two goals in the game in the second-half with Michael Mendoza scoring first off an amazing turn-and-shoot (unassisted).  Abbey Brower scored the second goal (assisted by Mason Dallegge) and the game ended 2-0.  As Goalkeeper, Peyton Schuppe recorded his second shut-out of the season.

The Fusion will conclude its season on May 21st and 22nd with participation in the Colorado Storm's Rock Cup.  The tournament is in Centennial and the Fusion's first game kicks off at 8:00 on Saturday morning.  Check this portion of the website after May 22nd to see if the Fusion ended the season as Champions.
