The single most important action a youth sports organization can take to enhance its program is to train its volunteer coaches.  We encourage you to use the links below to help you make your coaching experience more valuable and fun.

Jeff Pill is the Director of Coaching for the New Hampshire Soccer Association.  He has his national "A" license and is a National Staff Coach with US Soccer.  He is also a FIFA Technical Assistant.  These drills were designed using Soccer Coach, a terrific program made by Sports 'N' Kids.

This is a great site for Coaches, Players, and even Parents.  A range of animations are available, for many topics.  Some of the areas are Passing Exercises, Small Team Games, Turns 'n Dribbles, Free Kick Exercises, Football (soccer) History and Shooting Exercises.

Gregg Thompson was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Soccer Team and the U.S. National Team ('84, '85, '86.)  He has animated drills and games that are clear to follow and he offers a useful coaches handbook.

Goalkeeper Coaching

The soccer goalkeeper is one of the most important players on the field.  They are the last line of defense and the first line of attack.  To play the position well requires special skills and training.  To many coaches, through, soccer goalkeeping techniques and tactics are a mystery.  This is especially true at younger age levels, where often coaches have not played much soccer at all, much less played keeper.  Even experienced field players and coaches may not have much experience with goalkeeping.  This site is designed to help soccer coaches coach their goaltenders.  It outlines and demonstrates basic soccer goalkeeping techniques and tactics, and also touches on the psychology of goalkeeping and provides a primer on goalkeeping equipment.
